About Lisa Elia, LPC
My own journey to the world of therapy began as a curious and ever inquisitive child, attempting to make sense of the interpersonal relationships that existed around me. It was this curiosity that eventually led me to the field of counseling where I have worked for over almost twenty years. My previous work has taken me to many places, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Michigan. I have worked with young children, teens, adults, and the entire family unit. I utilize a unique set of trainings including a background studying behaviors at their core function, a focus of our responses, including fight, flight, freeze or fawn, a cognitive component to assist in identification of core beliefs we have about ourselves, and the ability to assist you in desensitization to triggers and reprocessing of responses. I work from the inside out, assisting you with getting to know what is going on at the most basic level of your patterns both physical and mental. I currently work with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, people-pleasing behaviors, those struggling with perfectionistic patterns, intrusive thoughts, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and impulsive behaviors. (ie. Spending, cleaning, eating) My goal in treating individuals has always been to increase your quality of life and assist you in soothing your system that has been overworked and overwhelmed. I am currently a trained EMDR therapist and utilize several modalities including Transactional Analysis, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Attachment informed therapy. I am looking forward to getting to know your unique story.
